I viewed the K12 Online Conference session about Shhh!!! The Students Are Learning: Being an Effective Classroom Facilitator by Clif Mims teacher and educational consultant from Memphis, TN. http://clifmims.com/blog. I’ve always felt students learn more if I was more of a facilitator than a lecturer. He presented a couple of ideas, like instructional design tips: Have a “driving question or scenario, alternative/suggested resources, mini-lessons, conferencing, organizers, and guide students through questioning”. His practical tips for teachers: “think like a coach, bring earplugs, ease your way into it, get some help, and you are learning, too”. I wasn’t really impressed with this presentation. Needs some pizzazz!
